Ryan Ellis will introduce us to his research on the history of Bug Bounty programs and the complexities these software vulnerability marketplaces create for labor practices. This research will then ground a discussion considering the use of similar models to uncover "bugs" and vulnerabilities in the workings of social media platforms and other socio-technical systems.
